Philip Park

Hi, I’m Philip Park.

Currently, I’m a Software Engineer @ Google, working in Core AI Foundations based in the NYC office. I work as a backend engineer in a voice and messaging infrastructure team where we are currently trying to build the infrastructure for conversational voice AI agents.

I got my bachelors in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) with honors (Cum Laude). But I’m a forever learner and will never stop being a student.

In the past I was a

  • Swe intern @ Google. same team as my full-time.
  • Swe intern @ a NYC based SAAS startup

and in my university I was a

  • CS tutor - held open office hours for 2 freshmen courses: Intro to CS, and Data Structures.
  • President of RPI’s Chess Club - helped found and build this club from the ground up. Implemented a discord bot to help manage a 400+ member server (which I also was a admin for), created the first Chess.com RPI club page, and helped set up and moderate university-wide tournaments of over 50 people.
  • Chess.com College Ambassador - basically a glorified free Chess.com merch and membership distributor to my fellow students.
  • Member of UPE (Cs Honor’s Society) - helped review resumes during career fairs, wrote some problems for our university competitive programming contest, etc.
  • Open source developer for RCOS (Rensselaer center for open source) - a pretty well known aspect of my university is our open source community.

I also started a technical reading club at my university where we read books, papers, and watched videos and afterwards discussed them. In a year we went through Designing Data Intensive Applications, Spanner, Lamport clocks, etc etc. (Now this sounds impressive right? Well, the club consisted of just 4 people including me. And they were all my roommates. Does that change your opinion? XD)

In my free time, I write, jam with my guitar, and read books that I basically never finish.
